To find other pet care providers to visit your animals when I’m not available or to have a back-up, I’ve made a list of the sitters I refer to most often. Let me know if none of us are available during a time when you need a sitter. I do have names of other sitters I’ve met and/or have heard about.
Otherwise, here’s where I would search next for a professional sitter:
- National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) membership directory
- Pet Sitters Associates (PSA) directory of insured sitters
- Pet Sitters International (PSI) membership directory
I’d recommend avoiding web sites like Care.com, SitterCity.com, and Rover.com. When you use these sites, you’ll find mostly non-professional, uninsured, unlicensed, inexperienced sitters.
