No Next Step: Business Start-up seminar is scheduled at this time. In between workshop offerings, I continue to teach this material as a private, self-paced tutorial. The tutorial can be done at a distance or in-person.

Description

This workshop provides:

• assistance in preparing a marketing plan
• tips on finding potential clients specializing in areas of interest to you (you'll leave the class with a list of publishers to approach)
• practice, feedback, and guidance in writing cold query letters and preparing your initial background statement (a.k.a. resume)
• sample forms and scripts aiding in preparation for receiving your first project (eg: contracts, invoices, list of questions to ask potential clients when they call or email you)

Who will benefit from this workshop?

Beginning freelance indexers ready to hang their shingle, but not sure where to begin will find this workshop valuable. You'll enjoy this session whether you've been an in-house indexer who's planning on freelancing soon, or you've taken an indexing course to learn basic indexing skills but feel insecure about starting to market your services.
