Affectionate, Cuddly Ouisa Needs A Home

If you (or any of your friends) are considering getting a cat and there are currently no other cats living with you, please come meet Ouisa. (Her name is French, and is pronounced like “Louisa” without the “Looo”. It’s sorta like “Weeeza”.) She’s currently living at the Feline Friends Adoption Center.

I’ve known Ouisa Bean for months now, since she was rescued by one of my clients. I can tell you that she’s one of the most affectionate cats I’ve ever met. She’s not constantly annoying, she just prefers to spend her time sitting next to or on someone’s lap or being held in their arms. While in your arms, she hugs you. I mean, she actually puts her paws around your neck and hugs you! After picking her up, if you sit down, she’ll adjust herself a bit so that you end up cradling her in your arms like a baby. It’s terribly cute!

We only know part of her story. My client worked with someone who knew of a woman with dozens of cats (gulp!) who was forced to give up most of them. Ouisa was among the cats she was giving up. Oui is a full-grown, spayed adult who had some pretty icky dental problems when my client adopted her. In addition to having lots of expensive dental work done (including a couple of pulled teeth) over the last few months, she is now up-to-date on her shots, and she got a complete physical and has a clean bill of health. Her medical records are also at Feline Friends, so you’ll get those if you adopt Ouisa Bean. You’ll also get her favorite blanket, which my client bought for Miss Oui.

I would say that Miss Ouisa is a Bombay except she has a few white hairs on her chest. But her black fur is more like the silky Bombay fur than like your average black cat’s fur. Other Bombay features she has are that she has a larger frame than the average cat, her muzzle is a bit more like a Burmese than a Domestic Short Hair cat, she’s extremely intelligent, is very bonded with humans, and will be the dominant cat if other cats live with her. Ouisa is also very quiet. (Bombays tend to be either very talkative or very quiet.)

What are the features of the ideal home for Ouisa?

  • No resident cats. She’s comfortable around other cats, but it’s best for Miss Ouisa to go to a house that currently has no other cats. She’s an alpha kitty who can intimidate other cats without being overtly aggressive.
  • Indoor only. Ouisa needs to live inside without going outdoors.
  • Plenty of available laps. She’s very affectionate and social. She’d be a great match for someone who works from home, is unemployed, or is home-bound.
  • Abundant wet food. Oui doesn’t eat dry kibble, so her new family needs to provide high-quality, healthy canned food.

If you’d like to know more about Ouisa Bean, please contact me to hear more about her. If you want to meet Miss Oui, swing by the Feline Friends Adoption Center. Or do both at the same time – we can make arrangements to meet at the Feline Friends Adoption Center if you want hear more about her AND meet her.
